One of the key reasons why Audio Garden continues to thrive and evolve is because of the passion and dedication of its founders, Declan and Emma. When they first launched the festival back in 2017, their goal was simple but profound: to create a platform that would keep the psytrance and underground music scene alive in Ireland, especially in an outdoor setting. As we now gear up for the sixth installment in 2024, it’s clear that they’ve more than achieved that mission.

Emma’s journey into the world of psytrance is a story in itself. She was first introduced to the genre in 2007 while living in Amsterdam, where she experienced the vibrant rave scene that Europe is known for. From iconic parties like Namaste, MS Stubnitz to massive festivals such as Boom and Ozora, Emma immersed herself in the culture, forming deep connections with the psytrance community across Europe. Her travels took her to Madrid and Sweden, where she continued to build on this passion.

Returning to Dublin in 2012, Emma immediately dove into the local psytrance scene, making new connections and finding a community that shared her love for the music. But when faced with the prospect of a summer without an outdoor psytrance festival in 2017, Emma teamed up with Declan to fill that void. Together, they founded Audio Garden, creating a safe and welcoming space for music lovers to come together and celebrate their shared passion.

Emma’s role at Audio Garden goes beyond co-founding the festival. She’s the creative force behind its graphics, online marketing, and promotion, and she handles the intricate details of festival administration — everything from insurance and suppliers to coordinating with local authorities. If you’ve ever attended Audio Garden, chances are you’ve met Emma at the box office, greeting festival-goers with a smile and a wristband, embodying the warmth and inclusivity that make this festival so special.
