IED bumped into Sharpson while raving at The Sound House, where he played an epic B2B set with SloppyJoe. The atmosphere was electric, with the crowd locked into every beat. After his set, still buzzing from the night, Sharpson pulled us aside to talk about his upcoming Paddy’s Day gig on March 15th. “That was just a warm-up,” he said with a grin. What has he planned for the weekend? Absolute mayhem. Dublin is about to experience a throwback trance rave like no other, this isn’t just about playing hits, it’s a high-octane, gravity-defying party that’s bound to leave a mark.

Sharpson has been keeping busy over the festive period, visiting Dublin from his hectic schedule in the UK to play a series of unforgettable gigs across Christmas and New Year’s. The city's rave scene was lit up by his sets, and it was clear the energy had been building for something massive.

One of the highlights was his performance at the Fred V gig hosted by Absys Records in the Racket Space. Sharpson played an epic set, delivering a wide variety of tunes that had the crowd hooked from start to finish. He’s not just a DJ; he's an electrifying presence behind the decks, exuding charisma that made the night even more memorable.

Sharpson, the mastermind behind Electric Picnic’s legendary “Granny’s Gaff” takeover, is bringing his 00s Throwback Trance party to the city, and it’s set to be a defining moment for Dublin’s scene. For those unfamiliar with the madness, picture a DJ set where Scooter, Basshunter, and DJ Cammy aren’t just names in a playlist but fuel for an unrelenting sonic assault. Expect flashing lights, infectious beats, and a dance floor packed with ravers ready to lose themselves in the music.

Beyond just spinning tracks, Sharpson is a force of nature behind the decks, flipping expectations upside down (sometimes literally). If his days holding down RTE Pulse radio during lockdown proved anything, it’s that his energy is unstoppable. With releases on Dirtybird, Southpoint, and Hardcore Energy, and co-signs from legends like Four Tet and Fatboy Slim, his reputation precedes him. But this isn’t about accolades; it’s about pure, uninhibited rave culture, distilled into one unmissable night.

Supporting him on the bill is Luke Grogan, a powerhouse selector who’s been tearing through dance floors with his signature blend of hard groove and 90s trance, fresh from shaking the walls of Belfast’s Telegraph Building. As the night intensifies, Choki Biki and MICK will take the reins, dropping a relentless UKG onslaught that’ll keep the energy sky-high. Meanwhile, on the terrace, THC DJs-Bobski, Dpaw, Eskay, and Intervention, will be holding it down with a seamless mix of UKG, house, and techno, ensuring the vibe stays locked all night long.

This isn’t just another event on the calendar, it’s a movement, a celebration of unfiltered, euphoric rave culture. Sharpson, the ex-religion teacher turned festival icon, is bringing his signature brand of mayhem home, and it’s bound to be one for the history books.

Forget the usual Paddy’s Day routine. Ditch the pub crawl, skip the green gimmicks, and step into a night where the only rule is to let go and embrace the madness. This is your invitation to witness something special, a turning point for Dublin’s throwback trance scene, a party where the only thing louder than the bass will be the shared energy of a crowd completely locked in the moment.
